THREE STEPS TO GREAT VIDEO THERAPY
April 16, 2020
It has been a busy few weeks with much time spent discussing the ins and outs of offering video therapy to our clients. My colleague Melanie Rodrigues wrote the following post about Three steps to Great Video Therapy to help clients get the most out of accessing video therapy.
Three steps to Great Video Therapy to help clients get the most out of accessing video therapy.
There are 3 areas to consider when you engage in video therapy: Technology, Environment and Mindset. Each area has some things to be aware of and some tricks that can help make this process more comfortable.
Some ideas include
* Make sure you are able to sit in a quiet and private location with no interruptions
* If there are others in your home, you can set up a code word that will stop the therapist from talking if you say it. This is great if you might be interrupted by kids or others who you don’t want to hear the conversation
* Check to make sure your lighting is ok. If your therapist can’t see you, this makes it harder for them to support you
* Mute TVs, phones, notifications to minimize distractions
* Come with an open mindset and curiosity about how this could be helpful in order to help you get the most out of the conversation.
* If you have any questions or concerns at any time, ask your therapist. They want you to get the most out of this process!
