Mental Health Therapist for Children and Youth
Special interest: Anxiety, self-esteem, behavioural issues, ADHD, families, relationships.
Hello! My name is Alexa. I’m a mental health therapist and social worker (MSW) with several years of experience helping youth, adults, and families work through mental health challenges and life stressors. I have worked as a therapist and social worker in non-profit organizations including domestic violence shelters and addiction services, as well as medical and outpatient hospital settings.
I am here to help you or your child if they are struggling with anxiety, depression, behavioural issues, ADHD, and trauma. I want to hear about the problems your child may be facing at school or at home. I like to support my clients with improving their self-esteem and help them identify and work toward their unique goals. I have a passion for helping my clients navigate the relationships in their life; whether it be helping them work through conflicts or complicated dynamics or helping them to build and maintain support systems that are positive and meaningful.
I use a variety of approaches from interpersonal and family psychotherapies that are evidence-based, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Attachment Based Family Therapy (ABFT), Dialectal Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Motivation Interviewing (MI). I am also learning about Child-Centered Play Therapy and am working toward training to be come certified through the Canadian Association for Play Therapy.
