LORI MCCAULEY-LITTLEJOHN, RP(q)

Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)  for Adults – Virtual Provider

Special interest: body shame with a focus on systemic anti-fatness, Indigenous experiences with colonialism

Hello! Wachay! My name is Lori (she/her), and I’m from Moosonee, ON, in Treaty 9 territory, although I’m currently living in North Bay, ON.

I’ve completed a diploma in Mental Health and Addictions, a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, a Minor in Gender Equality and Social Justice, and a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology. I also spent a couple of years working in my home community with people in communities along the James Bay coast.

I intend to utilize a therapeutic framework that is anti-oppressive and understands how various systemic influences have effects on our lived experiences. My approach is grounded in narrative therapy, although I often take an integrative approach through drawing from other therapies. In addition to narrative therapy, I have engaged in training in emotion-focused individual therapy, culturally competent Indigenous trauma work, solution-focused work, and cognitive behavioural therapy. I hope to explore further learning in internal family systems work as well.

My journey in beginning to unlearn systems of oppression led me to develop a special interest in working with body shame. I often utilize a fat liberation lens in this work, as I understand how anti-fatness intersects with other aspects of our lived experiences. A second special interest of mine stems from the line I’m walking as a Cree therapist. I understand that Western healing spaces are not always safe or welcoming for Indigenous folks, and I also understand that engaging in therapy may be a step that feels right for your healing journey right now.

When I’m not working, I enjoy playing videogames, beading, reading, painting, watching reality TV, and exploring outdoor spaces.

I understand how hard it can sometimes be to begin exploring therapy. My hope is to meet you where you are at in your healing journey and support you as you take the next steps along your path. If you think we may be a good fit, please reach out. I look forward to connecting with you!

Please note that for now, I’m a virtual provider. Thank you/meegwetch for your understanding!
